SB OVERSEAS- EMPOWERING DISPLACED REFUGEES IN LEBANON

The Syrian conflict has left over 5 million people displaced (that’s more than the population of my entire country). Resulting in many refugees seeking shelter in neighboring Lebanon and most have crossed the border leaving their homes, schools, and often family behind. Many of those affected by the war are young children who missed years of schooling because of this conflict and huge upheaval in their life. SB OverSeas is an NGO (Non-Government Organization) that works with refugees and displaced people in Lebanon, the majority of which are women and children affected by the Syrian and Palestinian conflict. They aim to provide education, aid and empowerment for refugees in need.

I was fortunate enough to spend two days with the organisation in Beirut in 2017 where I got to document the work they do in their education centre and tour Shatila camp with them. Below are a few images I was able to capture of the incredible volunteers and kids learning to restart their lives in relative peace.
