Ben
It takes someone brave as hell to figure out who they are and stand proudly in that knowledge for everyone to see. I have known Ben for many years, and when they told me that they had been exploring their non-binary identity and shifting away from cis-gender, binary, gender roles I was eager to help support them in anyway I could. I’m a firm believer that everyone should be whoever they are comfortable being, and I’m an even firmer believer that nobody should have to fit in to rigid gender roles (because who makes up those rules anyway!?). I organised this shoot with Ben and make up artist Maddy Brunel on beautiful Bethells beach at sunset. It was Ben’s first time wearing make up, and first time being photographed for an empowerment shoot. Personally, I think they absolutely nailed it. The freedom, joy and power that comes from these images is something I am incredibly proud of. x
